Bee-yond Resilience

Bee-keeping offers a hive of benefits—low investment, steady cash flow, climate-smart farming, enhanced crop pollination, and more. That’s why we’re supporting the Ministry of Agriculture to integrate bee-keeping with other farming practises, helping farmers move beyond resilience toward truly sustainable livelihoods.
Willard Muzimba
Bee keeper and lead farmer in Chipinge District
Willard had always kept bees for honey, but his traditional methods were both harmful to the environment and yielded little.

After receiving training in modern, sustainable bee-keeping practices, his production soared, and with it, new opportunities emerged. Today, Willard is not only thriving but also leading six other farmers in setting up their own apiaries, helping them unlock better livelihoods.
‍
Bee-keeping has become more than just honey for Willard—it has fuelled the growth of his coffee business, and now, he’s setting his sights on diversifying into dairy farming.
5
individuals worldwide, including Chipo, emerged as finalists from over 3,000+ applicants, making history as the first of just two Zimbabweans to reach this stage.
