“Meaningful progress towards Agenda 2030 hinges on the collective action and essential participation of persons with disabilities, in their full diversity, and their representative organisations, across all stages of SDG implementation.“

The Progress Journey

To guide resource allocation and policy development, Zimbabwe actively tracks and reports on progress towards the SDGs and Africa’s Agenda 2063, a collaborative journey we are committed to alongside our partners, making sure all voices are represented.
Sylocious Chaturuka
Deputy Director of the SDGs and Agenda 2063 Unit in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare
In the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Sylocious coordinates and participates in the formulation,  implementation and evaluation of policy and strategy aimed at achieving these goals.
‍
In this important task, we were honoured to work with Sylocious and the SDG and Agenda 2063 Unit, providing advisory and financial support to update the national SDG matrix to acceptable international standards. As a key national process, we also facilitated in bringing together various stakeholders to input and validate the process, resulting in an inclusive and comprehensive 2024 Voluntary National Review, presented at the 2024 High Level Political Forum.

Voluntary National Reviews presented at the High-Level Political Forum. Zimbabwe stands as one of only 20 nations worldwide, from 188, to have reported three or more times.
Leonard Marange
National Director of the Federation of Organization of Disabled People in Zimbabwe
Recognising the diverse representation of disability interests, it is important to amplify the voices of Persons with Disabilities through a unified channel, a mission championed by Leonard Marange and the Federation of Organisations of Disabled People of Zimbabwe.
‍
To achieve this, we facilitated a collaborative platform, bringing together Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, the SDG and Agenda 2063 Unit, and the Department of Disability Affairs to develop disability-inclusive SDG strategies. Furthermore, we empowered Leonard’s team to consult their constituency, gathering crucial disability-focused input for SDG processes and the Voluntary National Review.
