Kwekwe District is among the districts with the highest burden of HIV and new HIV infections in the country.

Wozoli, a rural settlement 80km from Kwekwe city, is particularly hard hit. The area has a high number of sex workers due to the presence of
cash-rich artisanal miners.

Wozoli also faces high rates of school dropout, teenage pregnancy, and gender-based violence

Wozoli is far from essential services. The closest healthcare facility is 15km away. For more serious cases, they have to travel an additional 80km to Kwekwe city.

Because of this, they are less likely to seek treatment and care for services like testing, counselling, and treatment.

Enter "Stop the Bus" - an initiative takes essential health and related services to remote areas where access to care is limited.

The initiative provides STI/HIV testing, PrEP rollout, family planning, VIAC screening, and male circumcision.

It also offers a Mobile One Stop Centre for outreach, providing legal aid and police victim-friendly services for survivors of gender-based violence.
