*Nashly's story is about resilience, empowerment, and hope. She discovered Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in 2018 while seeking treatment at a sex work clinic.

At first, she was sceptical about whether a pill could deliver what it promised. Nashly was also worried about the stigma attached to taking medication as a sex worker.
The clinic treats sex workers. The aunties, our nurses who work here would tell us about why PrEP, and why it is good. That’s how I knew about it”

Nashly's commitment to taking PrEP for four years paid off when she experienced a traumatic incident in 2020. Despite being raped on her way home from work, she tested negative. Her child was also born HIV-free. This filled her heart with gratitude and happiness.
“I saw the goodness of PrEP when I gave birth. My baby doesn’t have HIV and I did not contract it either,” she says.

Nashly's journey with PrEP would not have been possible without the support provided by the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research Zimbabwe (CeSHHAR), the organisation delivering these life-changing services.

UNDP, the Global Fund, the Ministry of Health & Child Care, and NGOs like CeSHHAR are working together to enhance PrEP accessibility for vulnerable communities.

This collaboration is a crucial step towards broadening HIV prevention coverage for key populations.
In Zimbabwe, UNDP is the Principal Recipient of the Global Fund HIV grant and provides Fund Administrator support services for the TB and Malaria grants.
